first started collecting comic books back in 1978; he had a small collection of about 500 comics, which he sold to a local shop in Leyton in late 1979.

His interest in comics was subsequently re-kindled in 1988, after a visit to a comic shop in
Manchester. By late 1989 Darryl had already accumulated several thousand issues. He also attended his first comic mart, as a dealer, at the Griffin Bar Hotel in Leeds, in September of 1989.

[Darryl]

Up until 1995, Darryl ran his business from a small warehouse in Pwllheli in Wales; he then moved to a larger warehouse situated in Chester, which enabled him to produce his first mail order catalogue.

In 1998 he bought an even larger warehouse in
Chester, from which he still runs his business to this day, also employing five full-time staff. Darryl, together with his wife Melloney, still attends various comic marts up and down the country, and also runs a very successful mail order business through the Silver Acre catalogue and this very website.

The Silver Acre stock currently stands at around 900,000 comics.

Gerry does not need to give his age. He files the comics so that everyone else is able to find them, fills and packs the orders, and organises the mail. Gerry is known as Silver Acre's 'Mechanic', keeping the warehouse running like a well-oiled machine! [Gerry]
[Dan]   is 25 years old and has been with Silver Acre since early 2004. He’s our computer guy and manages our website and Internet auctions. He’s the guy you moan at when the website doesn’t show.

The newest, and, at 19, the youngest, member of the Silver Acre team. Luke works hard pulling orders together, working on the computer, bagging, boarding and filing our comics, and sending out the mail. He also makes a cracking cup of tea, for which he receives much praise. Luke has taken the first heady steps up the business ladder since his appointment.   [Mark]
[Gerry]   Melloney has been married to Darryl for six and a half years. She is a partner in the business, is responsible for doing the business accounts, and last but not least, helps Darryl at all the trade shows - in sickness and in health!
